The book that inspired me

Strategist Team New Delhi

I have read several "inspiring" books, particularly on leadership and management. But, if I had to pick one as my choice read, I would choose Jim Collins' Good to Great: Why Some Companies Make the Leap... and Others Don't.

Collins and his team have identified a few companies as "great" organisations, and by comparing these on a scientific, analytical basis with companies that are merely "good", they bring out those aspects of leadership and management that are intrinsic in "great" companies.

As the reader goes through Collins' extensive research, he will find that the people who make good companies great are not supernatural beings; they are simply resourceful. A company need not be in a great industry to be great itself. But it does need excellent people who can drive it forward.

No one is a born leader. Leadership is an art that has to be nurtured and cultivated. I was inspired because greatness is not a function of circumstance; it is a matter of conscious choice. Good to Great helped my search for enduring excellence.
