A promising start to B-day; Sensex scales new peak

The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 27 points at 10,309. The index scaled a new all-time intra-day high of 10,354, and is now up 54 points at 10,336.

Tata Power and Grasim have spurted over 1% each to Rs 526 and Rs 1,688, respectively.

ICICI Bank, HLL and Larsen & Toubro, Hero Honda, ACC and Reliance Energy are the other prominent gainers among the Sensex stocks.

Ranbaxy has slipped 1% to Rs 438.

The market breadth is extremely positive. Out of 941 stocks traded so far, 741 have advanced, 189 have declined and 11 are unchanged.
