Chilli futures decline on weak spot demand

Chilli prices fell by Rs 41 to Rs 4,155 per quintal in futures trade today on subdued demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chilli for September month declined by Rs 41, or 0.98 per cent, to Rs 4,155 per quintal with an open interest of 6,935 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in August month lost Rs 29, or 0.71 per cent to Rs 4,070 per quintal in 4960 lots.
Marketmen said weakening trend at spot market on sluggish demand against adequate position mainly led to the fall in chilli prices at futures market here.
