Press Trust of India New Delhi

Crude oil futures prices rose by 0.19% to Rs 4,703 per barrel today as speculators created fresh positions amid a firm trend in Asia.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, December crude oil gained Rs 8, or 0.17%, to Rs 4,703 per barrel, with a business turnover of 7,158 lots.

Marketmen said the rise in crude oil futures was largely in tandem with a firming trend in Asia on data indicating a continued economic pick-up in China, the world's largest energy consumer.

Meanwhile, crude oil for January delivery advanced by 29 cents to USD 86.22 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
