Dow gains 28 pts, HDFC Bank surges 5%

US indices changed little from their previous close as the Nasdaq ended flat at 1,999, while the Dow Jones gained 28 points to finish at 10,486.

Indian floats, however, logged decent gains yesterday. HDFC Bank rose nearly 5% to $44.19, while Tata Motors was up nearly 2% at $9.43. ICICI Bank, Dr. Reddy's and VSNL also ended in the green at $20.60, $17.48 and $8.75, respectively. MTNL, however, lost 1.53% to $6.45.

Tech majors Infosys, Satyam and Wipro inched marginally to close higher at $74.20, $23.84 and $21.15, respectively.
