India's fish output at 57 lakh tonne during Apr-Oct

India's fish production stood at 57.03 lakh tonne in the first nine months of the current fiscal.
In the 2009-10 fiscal, the country produced 78.53 lakh tonne of fish, according to government data.
West Bengal, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat are the major fish producing states in the country.
During the 2009-10 fiscal, West Bengal produced 15.05 lakh tonne of fish, Andhra Pradesh 12.93 lakh tonne, Gujarat 7.71 lakh tonne, Kerala 6.63 lakh tonne, Maharashtra 5.38 lakh tonne and Tamil Nadu 5.34 lakh tonne, Minister of State for Agriculture Arun Yadav said in a written reply in the Lok Sabha yesterday.
