Infosys gains on winning harassment case in US

United States District judge Myron H. Thompson found no basis to support any of the charges filed by Palmer and dismissed the case entirely

SI Reporter Mumbai

Infosys is trading higher by 2.5% at Rs 2,412 after the company won a harassment case filed by its employee Jack Palmer, after a US Judge dismissed his claims and threw out the case on Monday.

“United States District judge Myron H. Thompson found no basis to support any of the charges filed by Palmer and dismissed the case entirely,” Infosys said in a filing.

Mr. Palmer claimed that he witnessed Infosys managers making widespread fraudulent use of short-term business visitor visas, known as B-1 visas, to bring workers from India to the United States for longer-term projects. The short-term visas can be obtained more quickly than other temporary work visas, and foreign workers on those visas are less costly for a company.

A combined around 170,000 shares have changed hands on the counter in opening deals.
