International agri & food exhibition from Sep 27

Promoting Rs 4,00,000 crore Indian food industry, the four-day international agriculture and food exhibition 'Agrifex' begins here from September 27.
 
Coming in the wake of government's 'new deal' to rural India as mentioned in the national common minimum programme, the exhibition intends to give due priority to agriculture besides enhancing the welfare of farmers and labourers of the unorganised sector.
 
Agrifex'04 aims to promote rural India and various welfare schemes envisaged by the Centre and the state governments, the exhibition's organiser ITE Group India said.
 
The event provides an ideal platform to promote dairy and agri products, horticulture, floriculture, sericulture, processed foods, machinery and research, packaging and refrigeration, Kiran Sharma, director ITE Group, said in a statement here.
 
She said the exhibition provides the ideal platform to showcase the developments as well as the scope for technological absorption in the agro sector.
 
The exhibition will also explore technological collaborations in the field of dairy and agri reasearch and sharing of expertise with the developing countries, she said, observing that Agrifex'04 is also aimed at helping farmers, scientists, food technologists, distributors, wholesalers as well as retailers.
 
Governments of Punjab, Haryana, Uttaranchal, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and the Union ministry of agriculture along with the Indian Council of Agriculture Research and National Dairy Research Institute are expected to participate in the fair.
