Jeera futures rise 0.16% on spot demand

Jeera futures prices gained Rs 24 to Rs 14,875 per quintal today, as speculators enlarged their positions, supported by a rising demand in spot markets. 

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, jeera for delivery in December gained Rs 24, or 0.16 per cent to Rs 14,875 per quintal, with an open interest of 10,701 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in January month inched up by Rs 3, or 0.02 per cent to Rs 15,155 per quintal with a business volume of 12,102 lots.

Analysts said pick up in demand in the spot market for the ongoing heavy marriage season led to rise in jeera futures prices.
