Mentha oil futures down on profit-booking

Press Trust of India New Delhi

Mentha oil prices fell by Rs 16.10 to Rs 946.50 per kg in futures trade today as traders indulged in profit-booking, driven by subdued spot market demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in May declined by Rs 16.10, or 1.67% to Rs 946.50 per kg, with a business volume of 136 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in July eased by Rs 8.10, or 0.89% to Rs 900.20 per kg, with a business turnover of 50 lots.

Mentha oil for delivery in June also fell by Rs 4.60, or 0.51% to Rs 904 per kg, with an open interest of 28 lots.

Traders said the fall in mentha oil futures prices was mostly due to profit-booking by speculators along with a weak spot market trend on subdued demand.
