Muhurat Day: Sensex pares gains, up 41pts

The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 224 points at 19,283, and touched a high of 19,330. However, profit taking at higher levels forced the index pare most of its gains.

The index is now up 41 points at 19,100.

HDFC Bank has advanced nearly 1% to Rs 1,574.

Reliance Communications, Reliance Energy and NTPC are the other prominent gainers.

Bajaj Auto and Wipro have slipped around 2% each to Rs 2,380 and Rs 461, respectively.

Satyam has shed 1.5% at Rs 428. HDFC and ONGC are down 1% each at Rs 2,535 and Rs 1,225, respectively.
