Sensex up 143pts; Tata Steel surges 2.5%

The Sensex is now up 143 points at 14,410.

Gujarat Ambuja and Tata Steel have surged 2.5% each to Rs 143 and Rs 469, respectively.

Wipro and Reliance Communications have advanced over 2% each to Rs 636 and Rs 483, respectively.

Satyam and Bharti Airtel have flared up nearly 2% each to Rs 483 and Rs 745, respectively.

HDFC has moved up 1.5% to Rs 1,698. Larsen & Toubro has gained 1.3% at Rs 1,622.

Out of 2,402 stocks traded so far, 1,633 have advanced, 702 have declined and 67 are unchanged.
