Sensex up 555pts; Tata Steel drops 8%

| The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 378 points at 19,621, and soon touched a fresh all-time intra-day high of 19,859. The index is now up 555 points at 19,798. HDFC Bank and BHEL have surged over 6.5% each to Rs 1,651 and Rs 2,590, respectively. Grasim has soared 5.4% to Rs 3,975. ICICI Bank has rallied 4.7% to Rs 1,240. Reliance Energy, Larsen & Toubro, NTPC, ONGC and HDFC have advanced around 3-4% each to Rs 1,740, Rs 4,025, Rs 237, Rs 1,196 and Rs 2,650, respectively. Tata Steel has plunged over 8% to Rs 908. |
