Arunachal grips in celebrations of Dree; Bollywood marks its presence

Arunachal Pradesh, which is currently gripped in the celebrations of the state's harvest festival 'Dree', the festival, which heralds the growing of seasonal crops in the state, marked the presence of Bollywood Actor Zeenat Aman along with many filmmakers and cinematographers this time.

While expressing her excitement to be in the festival, the Bollywood diva said, "I am just so happy to be here and happy to see the culture and the wonderful folk dances and the grace and the energy of the ladies. It's been a very wonderful experience."

A Bollywood filmmaker who was also present at the festival, said, "I found the state very beautiful. We are planning a movie very soon here."

 

The Apatanis observes series of agriculture rites during the festival to increase crop yield.

Thousands, including old and young, from the Apatani community gathered at Ziro in Arunachal Pradesh to celebrate the festival.

During the Dree, a few rites are performed to worship and appease gods and goddesses, who protect the crops, and ensure well-being of human beings.

Dressed in there colorful traditional attires, tribal women showcased 'Daminda' dance, singing rhythmically to the tunes.

This year the celebration of Dree festival was themed as "Our Culture, Our Pride" with an endeavor to strengthened age long cultural heritage.

Games and sports and all form of entertainment also formed an integral part of the celebration.
