Manchester United ace Wayne Rooney is reportedly hoping to see the last of his black headband, which he put on following his training ground accident almost a month ago, after it slipped and fell off just before he score a header for England against Poland in their 2014 World Cup qualifier.
Rooney's header, which was his 37th goal for England , was a the boost needed to take the Three Lions on course for the World Cup finals in Brazil four minutes before the break.
According to the Mirror, Rooney, who maintained his record of scoring in every qualifier he played on the road to Rio, said that the band fell off just before he score the header and he did not have time to put it on back, adding that the fact that it fell off had however, helped him to direct the ball better.
Rooney further said that the match was the first time he has headed a ball without having the band on since his injury, adding that he hoped that he would not have to wear it again after the weekend.
The report mentioned that Rooney has been wearing his protective band since he needed ten stitches after an accidental clash with United team-mate Phil Jones.
