Terming the bail granted to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander Zaki Ur Rehman Lakhvi as very unfortunate, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday hoped that Pakistan government will appeal in a higher court so that the bail granted to the 26/11 accused gets cancelled.
"He has been granted bail which is very unfortunate. I think it shouldn't have happened. I believe that all the evidences that have been provided by the Government are enough to convict Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi and the Pakistan government should appeal against this in the upper court as soon as possible," he said.
Singh told the media that India had provided all relevant evidence to Pakistan and demanded that India's most wanted terrorists including Hafiz Saeed should be handed over to India.
Earlier in the day, Pakistan's anti-terror court granted bail to Lakhvi. According to reports in The Dawn, Pakistan's Federal Investigation Agency's prosecutor had disagreed with the bail plea, but the court released Lakhvi with surety bonds worth Pakistan Rs 5,00,000.
The LeT Commander's bail comes just days after the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) attacked a school in Peshawar.
