Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday reached out to the city's traders and urged them to pay their taxes and pursue their business without fear or favour.
Assuring the total and full cooperation of his government, Kejriwal, who was sworn-in as the eighth chief minister of Delhi at the Ramlila Maidan here, said he would like to see their businesses grow.
"We want your businesses to grow. But for that, all of you need to pay your taxes with honesty. It is possible that by now whatever tax you paid, some amount might have been stolen. But now, no one will be able to steal it," said Kejriwal.
"We will use your tax money for roads, parking, water, electricity, women safety, admission of kids...no money will go in vain. Pay your taxes, we'll put your money to good use.... I assure you that no department will disturb you. No department will ask you for money," he added.
Kejriwal further said that when he was the chief minister for 49 days last year, he realised there was no scarcity of money in the government, but there was a lack of intention.
"I have at least learnt one thing in the 49 days of my governance, that there is no dearth of money in the government. There is enough money, there is a lack of intention," said Kejriwal.
