Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday said US President Barack Obama's warning to Pakistan to keep a check on their terror cells is a result of India's diplomatic approach under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"Obama said that Pakistan should keep a check on terrorism cells. This is a major achievement and is the result of the diplomatic approach by Prime Minister Modi. However, we do not say that everyone in Pakistan is a terrorist," said Singh.

President Obama, who will arrive in the national capital on January 25 to take part in this year's Republic Day celebrations, had said that terrorists' "safe havens within Pakistan are not acceptable".

He also said that those behind the 2008 Mumbai terror attack should be brought to justice.

President Obama will be the first U.S. President to attend the Republic Day celebrations as the chief guest.

Obama, who visited India in 2010, will also be the first U.S. President to visit the country twice while in office.
