Minister of State for Skill Development Rajiv Pratap Rudy on Thursday termed the passing of the Indo-Bangladesh Land Boundary Agreement Bill as a 'historic' day for the country.
"Today was a historic day, when the Parliament passed the act. This is a great historic moment for the country," Rudy told the media here.
"It is a great moment for the country when this issue has been settled in the Parliament with full majority and 100 percent unanimity," he added.
Earlier in the day, the Lok Sabha passed the Constitution 119th Amendment Bill on the Land Boundary Agreement between India and Bangladesh. The Bill was unanimously passed by the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday with 180 votes in favour and zero against it.
The LBA aims at the acquiring of territories by India and the transfer of territories to Bangladesh through retaining of adverse possessionin pursuance of the 1974 agreement between the two nations. Assam, West Bengal, Tripura and Meghalaya all fall under the bill.
