Australian golfer Geoff Ogilvy has reportedly been slammed for behaving like an 'a**hole' after he was called for an interview at a local radio station during The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass.

The former US Open champion, who was four-over through the opening five holes, produced a stunning turnaround by nailing seven birdies in his last 10 holes to post a three-under 69 to pull himself into contention midway through the opening round of the event.

According to News.com.au, Ogilvy went on Jacksonville sports talk station 1010XL, which is an official TPC sponsor, and behaved 'like a complete jackass' after he found out that the interview was a for local sports radio, which he scoffed as 'ridiculous'.

Witness accounts said that Ogilvy continued to be 'snotty and condescending' throughout the short interview, 'shaking his head as if the entire affair was beneath him'.

Ogilvy shot a 76 to be 11 shots behind co-leaders Martin Kaymer and Jordan Spieth going into the final round, the report added.
