Auto stocks edge lower
Auto stocks were trading in red, with the S&P BSE Auto index decreasing 387.43 points or 2.23% at 16977.84 at 13:52 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Auto index, Motherson Sumi Systems Ltd (down 4.52%), Eicher Motors Ltd (down 3.29%),Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (down 3.23%),Tata Motors Ltd (down 3.03%),Apollo Tyres Ltd (down 2.53%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Amara Raja Batteries Ltd (down 2.52%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd (down 1.82%), Bajaj Auto Ltd (down 1.8%), Balkrishna Industries Ltd (down 1.75%), and Bosch Ltd (down 1.69%).
On the other hand, Ashok Leyland Ltd (up 1.66%), turned up.
At 13:52 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 473.62 or 1.15% at 40696.5.
The Nifty 50 index was down 154.7 points or 1.28% at 11926.15.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 94.31 points or 0.64% at 14652.21.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 43.83 points or 0.86% at 5051.6.
On BSE,816 shares were trading in green, 1544 were trading in red and 170 were unchanged.
