Telecom shares slide

Telecom stocks were trading with losses, with the S&P BSE Telecom index falling 37.1 points or 2.99% at 1204.45 at 13:52 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Vodafone Idea Ltd (down 7.27%), Bharti Infratel Ltd (down 6.17%),OnMobile Global Ltd (down 5.28%),Optiemus Infracom Ltd (down 3.09%),Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (down 2.98%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Vindhya Telelinks Ltd (down 2.69%), Tejas Networks Ltd (down 2.53%), Bharti Airtel Ltd (down 2.34%), ITI Ltd (down 2.31%), and Sterlite Technologies Ltd (down 2.29%).

On the other hand, Reliance Communications Ltd (up 4.11%), and GTL Infrastructure Ltd (up 2.78%) moved up.

 

At 13:52 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 473.62 or 1.15% at 40696.5.

The Nifty 50 index was down 154.7 points or 1.28% at 11926.15.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 94.31 points or 0.64% at 14652.21.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 43.83 points or 0.86% at 5051.6.

On BSE,816 shares were trading in green, 1544 were trading in red and 170 were unchanged.
