Basic materials shares ease

Basic materials stocks were trading in the negative zone, with the S&P BSE Basic Materials index falling 67.07 points or 2.55% at 2561.93 at 13:53 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Basic Materials index, Kamdhenu Ltd (down 10.73%), Gravita India Ltd (down 9.14%),Zuari Global Ltd (down 7.25%),India Cements Ltd (down 7.06%),Atul Ltd (down 6.33%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Rain Industries Ltd (down 6.25%), Jai Corp Ltd (down 6.09%), Transpek Industry Ltd (down 6.02%), Navin Fluorine International Limited (down 5.84%), and Sarda Energy & Minerals Ltd (down 5.51%).

On the other hand, BASF India Ltd (up 7.8%), Sadhana Nitro Chem Ltd (up 2.37%), and Rallis India Ltd (up 1.38%) moved up.

 

At 13:53 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 612.74 or 1.59% at 38010.96.

The Nifty 50 index was down 174.75 points or 1.55% at 11128.55.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 364.82 points or 2.65% at 13408.81.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 120.59 points or 2.52% at 4665.13.

On BSE,460 shares were trading in green, 1786 were trading in red and 119 were unchanged.
