Basic materials stocks edge higher

Basic materials stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Basic Materials index increasing 13.63 points or 0.67% at 2046.5 at 09:53 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Basic Materials index, Astec Lifesciences Ltd (up 19.99%), Punjab Chemicals & Crop Protection Ltd (up 7.06%),Deepak Fertilizers & Petrochemicals Corp Ltd (up 6.45%),Pokarna Ltd (up 4.98%),Vikas Ecotech Ltd (up 4.91%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Zuari Agro Chemicals Ltd (up 4.56%), Deepak Nitrite Ltd (up 3.14%), Rain Industries Ltd (up 3%), ACC Ltd (up 2.69%), and Hindalco Industries Ltd (up 2.55%).

On the other hand, Mangalam Cement Ltd (down 6.01%), Prakash Industries Ltd (down 4.97%), and Kirloskar Ferrous Industries Ltd (down 4.91%) turned lower.

 

At 09:53 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 133.86 or 0.43% at 31319.65.

The Nifty 50 index was down 51.65 points or 0.56% at 9153.95.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 5.17 points or 0.05% at 10644.44.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 4.38 points or 0.12% at 3755.11.

On BSE,496 shares were trading in green, 973 were trading in red and 63 were unchanged.
