Basic materials stocks rise

Basic materials stocks were trading with gains, with the S&P BSE Basic Materials index increasing 7.55 points or 0.29% at 2652.53 at 09:47 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Basic Materials index, West Coast Paper Mills Ltd (up 3.76%), Orient Paper & Industries Ltd (up 3.17%),Ruchira Papers Ltd (up 3.02%),Tamil Nadu Newsprint & Papers Ltd (up 2.6%),N R Agarwal Industries Ltd (up 2.31%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Sudarshan Chemical Industries Ltd (up 2.3%), Seshasayee Paper & Boards Ltd (up 2.28%), Astron Paper & Board Mill Ltd (up 2.21%), Hindalco Industries Ltd (up 2.17%), and Tata Steel BSL Ltd (up 2.17%).

 

On the other hand, Mukand Ltd (down 5.12%), Seya Industries Ltd (down 4.99%), and Ballarpur Industries Ltd (down 4.84%) turned lower.

At 09:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 300.3 or 0.74% at 40479.29.

The Nifty 50 index was up 1.6 points or 0.01% at 11923.1.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 118.32 points or 0.88% at 13336.91.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 50.05 points or 1.06% at 4665.46.

On BSE,691 shares were trading in green, 666 were trading in red and 102 were unchanged.
