Energy shares slide

Energy stocks were trading in the negative zone, with the S&P BSE Energy index falling 70.04 points or 1.42% at 4858.54 at 13:49 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Energy index, Goa Carbon Ltd (down 3.26%), Confidence Petroleum India Ltd (down 2.09%),Reliance Industries Ltd (down 1.87%),Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (down 1.38%),Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (down 1.35%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Aban Offshore Ltd (down 0.99%), Petronet LNG Ltd (down 0.99%), Selan Explorations Technology Ltd (down 0.87%), Hindustan Oil Exploration Company Ltd (down 0.82%), and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (down 0.77%).

On the other hand, Aegis Logistics Ltd (up 1.83%), Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd (up 1.8%), and Adani Gas Ltd (up 1.67%) moved up.

 

At 13:49 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 182.09 or 0.44% at 41123.94.

The Nifty 50 index was down 48.45 points or 0.4% at 12089.5.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 59.38 points or 0.4% at 14789.36.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 19.22 points or 0.38% at 5126.65.

On BSE,1152 shares were trading in green, 1182 were trading in red and 151 were unchanged.
