Energy stocks edge higher
Energy stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Energy index increasing 10.91 points or 0.21% at 5286.81 at 09:48 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Energy index, Goa Carbon Ltd (up 4.45%), Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd (up 1.47%),Castrol India Ltd (up 0.96%),Alphageo (India) Ltd (up 0.8%),Aegis Logistics Ltd (up 0.73%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Reliance Industries Ltd (up 0.49%), Deep Industries Ltd (up 0.24%), Gulf Oil Lubricants India Ltd (up 0.11%), and Adani Gas Ltd (up 0.1%).
On the other hand, Mangalore Refinery And Petrochemicals Ltd (down 1.93%), Gujarat Gas Ltd (down 1.63%), and Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd (down 1.22%) turned lower.
At 09:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 64.96 or 0.16% at 41493.61.
The Nifty 50 index was down 23 points or 0.19% at 12198.65.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 4.12 points or 0.03% at 13391.25.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 3.67 points or 0.08% at 4689.84.
On BSE,634 shares were trading in green, 657 were trading in red and 57 were unchanged.
