Energy stocks edge lower
Energy stocks were trading in red, with the S&P BSE Energy index decreasing 120.85 points or 2.61% at 4504.86 at 13:53 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Energy index, Reliance Industries Ltd (down 2.94%), Oil & Natural Gas Corpn Ltd (down 2.69%),Goa Carbon Ltd (down 2.6%),Hindustan Oil Exploration Company Ltd (down 2.2%),Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (down 1.96%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Selan Explorations Technology Ltd (down 1.34%), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (down 1.33%), Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd (down 1.24%), Coal India Ltd (down 1.15%), and Oil India Ltd (down 0.88%).
On the other hand, Panama Petrochem Ltd (up 2.05%), Adani Gas Ltd (up 0.9%), and Aegis Logistics Ltd (up 0.73%) turned up.
At 13:53 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 685.1 or 2.14% at 31323.51.
The Nifty 50 index was down 201.45 points or 2.15% at 9182.1.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 56.1 points or 0.52% at 10718.33.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 12.03 points or 0.32% at 3805.59.
On BSE,884 shares were trading in green, 1254 were trading in red and 142 were unchanged.
