Metal shares fall

Metal stocks were trading with losses, with the S&P BSE Metal index falling 537.77 points or 6.7% at 7491.96 at 13:52 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, Vedanta Ltd (down 12.83%), NMDC Ltd (down 10.65%),Steel Authority of India Ltd (down 8.5%),Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (down 7.79%),Tata Steel Ltd (down 6.89%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were National Aluminium Company Ltd (down 6.05%), Coal India Ltd (down 5.54%), Hindalco Industries Ltd (down 4.63%), JSW Steel Ltd (down 4.08%), and Hindustan Zinc Ltd (down 2.72%).

At 13:52 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 2137.66 or 5.69% at 35438.96.

 

The Nifty 50 index was down 620.7 points or 5.65% at 10368.75.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 643.34 points or 4.83% at 12686.44.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 218.54 points or 4.72% at 4409.8.

On BSE,252 shares were trading in green, 2162 were trading in red and 152 were unchanged.
