Metal stocks edge higher
Metal stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Metal index increasing 51.16 points or 0.62% at 8322.17 at 09:50 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, Vedanta Ltd (up 1.78%), Coal India Ltd (up 1.73%), Hindustan Zinc Ltd (up 0.93%), National Aluminium Company Ltd (up 0.88%), Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (up 0.73%), and Tata Steel Ltd (up 0.24%), were the top gainers.
On the other hand, NMDC Ltd (down 1.79%), Steel Authority of India Ltd (down 0.32%), and JSW Steel Ltd (down 0.1%) turned lower.
At 09:50 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 143.08 or 0.38% at 37308.76.
The Nifty 50 index was down 43.3 points or 0.39% at 11002.8.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 8.28 points or 0.07% at 12500.18.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 1.44 points or 0.03% at 4221.39.
On BSE,654 shares were trading in green, 709 were trading in red and 69 were unchanged.
