Telecom stocks edge lower
Telecom stocks were trading in red, with the S&P BSE Telecom index decreasing 8.98 points or 0.81% at 1104.57 at 13:48 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (down 4.94%), Reliance Communications Ltd (down 4.44%),Optiemus Infracom Ltd (down 2.03%),Sterlite Technologies Ltd (down 1.2%),Bharti Airtel Ltd (down 1.1%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were OnMobile Global Ltd (down 0.97%), Vodafone Idea Ltd (down 0.46%), HFCL Ltd (down 0.29%), and Bharti Infratel Ltd (down 0.04%).
On the other hand, ITI Ltd (up 2.54%), GTL Infrastructure Ltd (up 2.5%), and Vindhya Telelinks Ltd (up 1.13%) turned up.
At 13:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 105.24 or 0.25% at 41576.3.
The Nifty 50 index was down 28.95 points or 0.24% at 12242.85.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 7.24 points or 0.05% at 13383.79.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 1.44 points or 0.03% at 4703.26.
On BSE,999 shares were trading in green, 1312 were trading in red and 197 were unchanged.
