Telecom shares spurt
Telecom stocks were trading with gains, with the S&P BSE Telecom index rising 22.69 points or 2.11% at 1098.04 at 09:52 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, ITI Ltd (up 16.48%), Vodafone Idea Ltd (up 8.84%),GTL Infrastructure Ltd (up 4.17%),HFCL Ltd (up 4.07%),Tejas Networks Ltd (up 3.67%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (up 2.97%), Bharti Airtel Ltd (up 2.36%), and Optiemus Infracom Ltd (up 1.24%).
On the other hand, OnMobile Global Ltd (down 7.6%), Reliance Communications Ltd (down 2.7%), and Sterlite Technologies Ltd (down 1.64%) moved lower.
At 09:52 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 542.48 or 1.74% at 30617.14.
The Nifty 50 index was down 161.65 points or 1.77% at 8950.25.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 192.17 points or 1.87% at 10101.58.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 71.55 points or 1.96% at 3577.98.
On BSE,649 shares were trading in green, 947 were trading in red and 107 were unchanged.
