Telecom stocks soar
Telecom stocks were trading with gains, with the S&P BSE Telecom index increasing 82.3 points or 6.83% at 1286.49 at 09:53 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Bharti Airtel Ltd (up 8.1%), Vodafone Idea Ltd (up 4.28%),Optiemus Infracom Ltd (up 4.02%),Bharti Infratel Ltd (up 1.81%),Sterlite Technologies Ltd (up 1.21%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were ITI Ltd (up 0.85%), HFCL Ltd (up 0.62%), Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (up 0.45%), and OnMobile Global Ltd (up 0.36%).
On the other hand, Tejas Networks Ltd (down 2.64%), Reliance Communications Ltd (down 1.18%), and Vindhya Telelinks Ltd (down 0.83%) turned lower.
At 09:53 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 485.35 or 1.62% at 30514.33.
The Nifty 50 index was up 140.55 points or 1.59% at 8963.8.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 58.15 points or 0.56% at 10434.46.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 40.37 points or 1.11% at 3691.04.
On BSE,829 shares were trading in green, 517 were trading in red and 73 were unchanged.
