Utilties shares fall

Utilties stocks were trading in the negative zone, with the S&P BSE Utilities index falling 6.93 points or 0.48% at 1440.89 at 13:53 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Utilities index, Rattanindia Power Ltd (down 3.62%), Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd (down 2.63%),JSW Energy Ltd (down 2.62%),SJVN Ltd (down 2.3%),GE T&D India Ltd (down 1.88%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (down 1.66%), Mahanagar Gas Ltd (down 1.24%), NHPC Ltd (down 1.18%), Indian Energy Exchange Ltd (down 0.83%), and GAIL (India) Ltd (down 0.77%).
On the other hand, GVK Power & Infrastructure Ltd (up 5.4%), Va Tech Wabag Ltd (up 4.99%), and Reliance Infrastructure Ltd (up 4.99%) moved up.
At 13:53 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 352.91 or 1.12% at 31732.46.
The Nifty 50 index was up 88.7 points or 0.97% at 9276.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 60.22 points or 1.61% at 3792.
On BSE,1431 shares were trading in green, 827 were trading in red and 167 were unchanged.
