Jats backbone of country's economy, says Delhi CM

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Friday said the Jat community of Haryana is the backbone of the country's economy.

Addressing the All India Jats Convention at Talkatora Stadium here, Dikshit said: "The community is the backbone of our economy as it is deeply involved in agriculture and also rendered substantial contribution to the freedom struggle."

"Delhi was the first state in the country to grant OBC status to the Jat community, hence enabling them to avail benefits of OBC reservation in government services," Dikshit said.
