Rahul's poll plans

After experimenting with elections in the Punjab and Himachal Pradesh units of the Youth Congress and the National Students Union of India (the students’ wing of the Congress), party General Secretary Rahul Gandhi wanted to hold organisational elections in Gujarat. All the preparations were made, but once the Lok Sabha election dates were announced, the exercise had to be postponed. Gandhi’s plan to have fresh elections to elect party leaders is an attempt to get rid of the coterie and nomination culture.
After the Lok Sabha polls, the first organisational task for Gandhi will be to complete the Youth Congress elections in Gujarat. He has set a target of electing leaders for the party’s youth bodies all over the country by the end of this year.
