Bodies of mother-daughter found floating in Chambal River

Bodies of a 75-year-old woman and her daughter were found floating today morning in Bhiteriya Kund area of Chambal river under Dadabari police station area of Kota city.

The family members of the deceased had lodged a missing report in Mahaveernagar police station on last evening after the duo did not return home till late, police said.

The bodies of two women found floating in Bhiteriya Kund area of Chambal river today morning, said Ashok Sharma, Assistant Sub inspector (ASI) at Dadabari police station adding the dead bodies were identified as Mewabai and her daughter Sumitra (55), residents of Mahaveernagar area of the city.
 

Sumitra was mentally-challenged and had been staying with her mother after she was abandoned by her husband, ASI Sharma said and added the duo had gone for a walk last evening but did not return till late following which the son lodged a missing report about it in Mahaveernagar police station, police said.

The police is further investigating the matter, Sharma said adding the bodies were handed over to the family members today after a postmortem.

A case under section 174 of CrPC has been lodged in this connection, the ASI further added.
