CBI files charge sheet against ex-minister of Jharkhand

CBI has filed a charge sheet against the former Revenue Minister of Jharkhand for allegedly possessing assets of over Rs one crore disproportionate to known sources of his income.

Dulal Bhuiyan has been charge sheeted by the agency for amassing assets of over Rs 1.03 crore during the period March 10, 2005 to September 01, 2009, CBI said.

"Central Bureau of Investigation has filed a charge sheet against then Minister of Revenue, Land Reforms and Co-operatives, Government of Jharkhand, under...Prevention Corruption of Act, 1988 for possession of alleged assets disproportionate to his known sources of income to the extent of Rs.1,03,04,547 (approx) during the period March 10, 2005 to September 01, 2009," CBI spokesperson Kanchan Prasad said here today.
 

She said a case was registered against the ex-MLA and the then Minister on the orders of the Jharkhand High Court.

"It was alleged that the said accused was in possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of Income. During investigation, it was found that the alleged assets acquired by accused during said period were in the form of plots, vehicles, bank balance, fixed deposits etc. In his own name and in the name of his family members," she said.

She said after thorough investigation, CBI filed a charge sheet in the court of Special Judge, CBI Cases, Ranchi (Jharkhand).
