A third accused in a gruesome murder case here has been arrested, police said today.

Rakesh Kumar Toni, who was on the run, since the murder took place on September 28 was arrested after he surrendered, ACP Jalandhar (North) Amneet Kondal told reporters.

The victim, Vinod Kumar, was killed in an attack by three persons, including Toni, Jaspal and a RPF constable Jasmail Singh after the trio allegedly lost a sum of Rs 20,000 in gambling to Kumar.

The murder took place near the busy Damoria Bridge close to the railway station and the victim was killed allegedly by them by slitting his throat, police said.

While Jasmail was nabbed by the crowd and haded over to the police, Jaspal was arrested later.
