Welcoming the court order for registration of an FIR against Mohammad Akhlaq's family in the Dadri lynching episode, VHP today said it exposed the Uttar Pradesh government and the "conspiracy of the secular mafia".

It also demanded a fair and fast probe into the matter.

VHP joint general secretary Surendra Jain said the family of Akhlaq should be sent to jail immediately and compensation and facilities showered on them by the state government be taken back.

He also demanded withdrawal of cases against "innocent Hindus" and their release.

The VHP leader defended the action of villagers, saying they had gone to Akhlaq's home to enquire about the missing calf "but the situation got out of control only because of the bad behaviour of Akhlaq and his family members".

Judicial Magistrate Vijay Kumar ordered investigation and lodging of an FIR of cow slaughter against Akhlaq's family.

Akhlaq was killed by a mob on September 29 last year on the suspicion that his family stored and consumed beef at their home.
