Kin of labourers who died in wall collapse, block traffic demanding arrest of accused

Press Trust of India Fatehgarh Sahib (Pb)

A day after six labourers died when a wall of an under-construction rice godown collapsed, their relatives today blocked traffic on the Ludhiana-Chandigarh road, demanding arrest of those responsible for the incident.

The kin of the deceased today met Khamano Station House Officer Navdeep Singh and demanded immediate arrest of all the accused. They also met Khamano SDM Paramjit Singh and raised the similar demand.

Demanding that those responsible for the incident be arrested after which they would allow post-mortem of the bodies, the kin of the deceased blocked traffic on Ludhiana Chandigarh road for around half an hour.

They lifted the blockade after the SDM assured them of strict action against all the accused. The Khamano SHO said the accused will be arrested soon.

The police is conducting raids to arrest them.

Police have registered a case against three people, including the owner of the rice godown, under relevant sections of the IPC.
