Mentha oil prices dropped by 3.89 per cent to Rs 1,286 per kg in futures trade today as speculators booked profits at prevailing higher levels amid slump in demand in the spot market against adequate stocks.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in May fell by Rs 52, or 3.89 per cent, to Rs 1,286 per kg in business turnover of 127 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in June contracts was trading lower by Rs 18.30, or 1.61 per cent, to Rs 1,115 per kg in 110 lots.

Analysts said besides profit-booking by participants, a fall in demand from consuming industries at existing level in spot market, ample stocks position on increased arrivals from producing belts pulled down mentha oil prices at futures trade.
