Punjab Congress Chief Partap Singh Bajwa today said he will not allow imposition of wealth tax on farmers and will meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh requesting him to defer the proposed amendment in this regard in Finance Bill 2013.
"Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) will not allow implementation of wealth tax on farmers," Bajwa today said here.
He said that he will meet AICC President Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on May 29 to request them to defer the proposed amendment.

The Gurdaspur MP said that he had already taken up the issue with Union Finance Minister P Chidmabaram and he had assured to resolve the matter.
He also accused SAD of raising the wealth tax issue "only to get political mileage", adding that the notification to impose wealth tax on agriculture land was issued in 1993.
The PPCC president also warned Punjab police against registration of "false cases" against Congress leaders and alleged that police was failing in its primary duty of controlling crime.
Sunil Jakhar, CLP leader, said that Congress will expose the misdeeds of SAD-BJP government in public, saying that this government had survived on false promises.
