Russian President Vladimir Putin today told UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon that the upcoming referendum in Crimea on the Ukrainian peninsula's future was in line with international law.
"Vladimir Putin stressed that a decision to conduct a referendum is in full accordance with the norms of international law and the UN Charter," the Kremlin said in a statement.
