Rape victim blackmailed with video of crime

Following the complaint made by the victim, a case was registered against one Pranjul Awasthi at Naubasta police station yesterday, a police spokesman said.

According to the complaint, Pranjul first lured the victim with the promise to marry her and then raped her after offering her drink laced with sedatives.

The complainant claimed that he had recorded the crime and threatened her to circulate it as an MMS.

The alleged person is works in Haryana and efforts are being made to arrest him at the earliest, the spokesman said.
