Unmarried woman abandons newborn girl baby; flees hospital

A 22-year old unmarried woman, working as a nurse in a private hospital, gave birth to a baby girl at the government hospital here but fled after abandoning the new born, police said today.

The woman, in advanced stage of pregnancy, got herself admitted in the hospital yesterday with the help of her friend and delivered the girl baby.

However, barely an hour after delivering the baby, she fled the hospital abandoning the baby.

On being informed about the incident, police registered a case and are looking for the woman.

According to initial investigation, the woman was not married.
