After its crackdown on polluting tanneries, Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) today initiated action against four factories in Kanpur, by cutting electricity and water supply to them, for alleged violation of pollution norms.
Regional Officer, Pollution Control Board, Kanpur, T U Khan said that last night electricity and water supply was cut off to the four factories, which were not adhering to rules regarding pollution control.
Notices were issued to the factories and when they failed to respond, action was taken, he said.
Following a decision of the National Green Tribunal, UPPCB had on Sunday initiated the process of closing 98 tanneries here, which were allegedly releasing toxic effluents in River Ganga, by cutting electricity supply to them.
