Abbot Labs Hit Hard By Slashing Of Prices

Abbot Labs has been hit hard by the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority's (NPPA) recent slashing of 25 formulation prices. Prices of its erythromycin formulations have been cut by up to 27.5 per cent.

The NPPA has also revised upwards prices of 7 formulation packs, including those of Reckitt and Colman's Dettol Antiseptic Cream. Its prices have been hiked by 6.6 per cent from Rs 68.85 to Rs 73.42. Prices of four formulation packs have also been fixed for the first time. Lupin Labs' Odoxil DS Premix and Aknemycin Solution prices have been fixed at Rs 37.69 and Rs 28.49 respectively.

 

Themis chemicals' tetracox tablets and tetracox kit prices have also been brought under the ambit of price control. The price of a kit of 3 tablets in a blister will now be priced at Rs 17.29. Sixteen out of the 25 formulations whose prices have been cut are from Abbot labs. Fourteen of these are erythromycin formulations, while two are in it's acnederm category. Prices of Abbot's Acnederm lotion have been slashed by 69.56 per cent and price of the acnederm cream has been cut 47.62 per cent to Rs 8.38 from Rs 16.00. Prices of German Remedies' Neurotrat ampoules have been hiked 9.9 per cent to Rs 5.55, while prices of its Sulfuno Tabs have been hiked by 2.47 per cent for 10's Al Strip and 3.3 per cent for 10's Al blister.

Other formulations whose prices have been hiked include Lupin's AKT-FD whose price has been hiked 0.6 per cent from Rs 18.23 to Rs 18.34, Themis Chemicals' tetracox tablets price has been hiked marginally to Rs 832.32.
