Advani Calls For Debate On Creation Of Pakistan

BJP president L K Advani yesterday called for a sincere debate on the ideological and theological basis on which Pakistan was created as it continued to be +Indias foremost problem in the sphere of national security and foreign policy.
In a statement here, the BJP president said the debate had become desirable during the golden jubilee of the countrys independence.
He said it had also become relevant because even after 50 years of creation of a separate Muslim nation, unity, emotional integration, harmony and durable peace between Hindus and Muslims within truncated India have continued to elude us.

Indian Muslims, therefore, have a special obligation to recall this national tragedy and purge from their mindset every trace of the ideological-theological underpinnings of the two-nation theory once and for all, Advani said.
He said one of the fundamental sources of the two-nation theory and also of the distrust, discord and disunity between Hindus and Muslims in India for the past many centuries had been the Muslim theologians characterisation of Hindus as kafirs.
He appealed to Muslim theologians and intellectuals to categorically and irrevocably proclaim that they have stopped considering Hindus as kafirs.
Advani said it was high time that the Muslims realised that the partys adversaries had been raising the bogey of a communal threat from the BJP only for reasons of narrow political gain.
He said this had led to opposition to the enactment of a common civil code and scrapping of Article 370 of Constitution.
They treat you (Muslims) as dumb vote banks, whereas, we consider you as equal partners in building a new India, Advani said.
He said that vote-bank politics had not brought to Indian Muslims the security, material well-being and adequate opportunities for playing their legitimate democratic role in the affairs of the nation.
Advani said that on the other hand, BJPs own track record of governance proved its fidelity to its promise, justice for all, appeasement of none.
He said in all those states where BJP was or had been in power, the scourge of communal riots had been eliminated and administration had guaranteed the security and well-being of all without discrimination.
he BJP president assured Muslims that it would be his partys honest resolve to create a riot-free, violence-free and discrimination-free India when his party came to power at the Centre.Indian Muslims have an obligation to purge every trace of the ideological-theological underpinnings of the two-nation theory from their mindset once and for all
