RFBELLION Has apparently failed to pay off for ousted Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kalyan Singh.
Forced to step down from office in early November and then bringing about his own suspension from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) later in the month by lashing out at Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, Singh seems to have badly miscalculated the impact of his political tantrums.

While he knew that the top leaders of his party, where he has been for 45 years, would drop him like a hot brick at the first possible chance, Singh was confident of securing the support of at least half the workers in the BJP's Uttar Pradesh unit. But he now finds hardly anyone by his side.
From harbouring ambitions of forcing a vertical split in the state BJP, which has 175 members in the Legislative Assembly, Singh is now trying to wean away just over a dozen legislators.
The 425-member Assemb currently has eight vacancies thereby bringing its effective strength down to 417.
The simple majority mark therefore, is 209. % IPCL stake
